This design project was focused on the adaptive reuse of the heritage portion of the old St Paul's Hospital, located in downtown Vancouver along Burrard St. The site is surrounded by other high end hotels, restaurants and galleries, as well as Vancouvers Gay Village which runs adjacent to the existing hospital. The idea for this project way to combine the surrounding typologies into a high end, exclusive / inclusive members club and hotel, which welcomes all members of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as their friends, family and allies. The idea for the creation of this space, which promotes Queer art, talent, and community, is to provide a safe space which showcases and celebrates that community in a high end, luxurious, slightly camp, venue.
